Quarry Lake Park

Only 7 minutes from downtown, Quarry Lake Park is a must-visit. It has a big off-leash meadow where your dog can sprint and play. The lake is perfect for a summer splash, but leash up outside the off-leash zone. Parking costs $5 a day. Expect warm days around 20°C (68°F) with epic mountain views.

Elk Run Dog Park

Head north via Glacier Drive to Elk Run Dog Park. This fenced off-leash spot gives your pup room to roam with the Rockies as a backdrop. The 5-foot fence keeps them safe. Dogs need vaccines and a license. Parking is free at the Elk Run Ball Diamond lot nearby.

Policeman’s Creek Trail

Starting near downtown, this 3 km loop is ideal for a leashed stroll. Your dog can splash in the creek’s cool 10°C (50°F) water. You’ll cross the Canmore Engine Bridge—great for photos. Fall turns the larches golden, and temps hover at 10°C (50°F). Bring waste bags.

Bow River Loop

A 5-minute drive from downtown, this 3 km leashed trail follows the river. Your pup can dip their paws in the 10°C (50°F) water. The Three Sisters peaks steal the show. Summer evenings drop to 15°C (59°F), so pack a jacket.

Canmore’s Main Street loves dogs. Leash up and browse Rocky Mountain Soap Co. or Alberta’s Own Marketplace. Stop by Mut Hut Pet Emporium for treats and toys—they even have a doggie bakery. Shops run 10 AM to 6 PM daily.

Canmore Mountain Market

Visiting May to October? Check out the Thursday market at Elevation Place. Leashed dogs are welcome. You’ll find fresh produce and baked goods. Some vendors sell pup treats. It’s open 10 AM to 6 PM, and entry is free.
